Photography & musings from an LA Woman living in Sydney, Australia, and searching for the small joys in everyday life.

I actually didn’t hate this episode as much as the HuffPo blogger did, which is saying something because I have hated the majority of the episodes this season. Yes, Betty is evil and manipulative (so what else is new) and everyone else is consumed by their various jealousies. Don is jealous of the new, talented copy writer, Ginsberg; Betty is jealous of Don and Don’s new wife, Megan; Roger doesn’t want to be married to Jane but has to “mark” his territory when he sees someone else show a spark of interest in her; Megan is jealous of her actress friend getting a part in a cheesy daytime soap opera, and on and on we go.
What I really want to know, besides how much longer we are going to have to endure Pete Campbell (if anyone needs to expire in a car crash or other catastrophic accident, it’s this guy, just leave his lovely wife out of it, please), is what in the hell happened to the characters we have come to know and love? Peggy is vanishing into the woodwork, a shell of her former self.Joan gets hardly any screen time at all. And Lane, he isn’t even in half of the episodes. And the new Don? He’s become a stuffed shirt and even more of an asshole than before. Roger is just a pig, that’s not new, but he isn’t even fun this season. Pete needs to go away, permanently, and Megan, Megan, Megan, dropped in from Mars on us last season and now she is featured prominently in every episode and we hardly even know her.
Overall, it’s been a very frustrating and disappointing season of Mad Men. Maybe we just need to have a cage match between Betty and Megan and make them fight to the death. Anything is better than this shit.

Welcome back, Mad Men. The late sixties angst is starting to creep into the plot and I’m loving it. Oh, and Don: you have met your match in Megan. She is going to drag you into the future whether or not you want to go there. Enjoy the ride.
